Many parts of Kashmir Valley received fresh snowfall on Wednesday morning breaking the intense cold wave conditions.
The snowfall which started on the morning, suspended the air traffic; though vehicular traffic was normally plying on Srinagar-Jammu highway till last reports came. While the traffic movement on historical Mughal road and Srinagar-Sonamarg, Gumri road remained closed due to the accumulation of snow.
The weatherman has predicted heavy snowfall in Kashmir valley from January 19 to 23. However, deceiving such predictions snowfall started before three days.
They had said under the influence of an intense western disturbance is likely to become active over Jammu and Kashmir during this time, the valley may witness moderate to heavy snowfall.
“The air traffic to and fro Srinagar airport has been hit because of the low visibility due to continuous snowfall,” an official at the airport said.
“The decision to resume the flights will be taken after the weather is clear,” an official said.
